Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI)
Repetitive strain injury (RSI) is a term for injuries affecting your muscles, tendons or nerves. Generally you may feel the affects of repetitive strain in your neck or back. You may also experience it in your shoulders, arms or hands. If you regularly lift weights you are likely to sustain this type of injury.
These injuries can progress to become crippling disorders that prevent you from working or leading a normal life. You are more likely to suffer from repetitive strain injuries if you work in certain industries. Some of the industries include Warehousing and Distribution, Mining, Transport & Building.
If you experience these types of aches and pains do not ignore them. Consult a medical practitioner. Also, if this is a workplace issue examine the requirements of the Manual Handling chapter (Part 3.1) of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2007.
